'Dinosauria' Exhibit Held Over at Detroit Zoo: Watch

If you missed it, you still have a chance to see life-like dinosaur exhibit, originally scheduled to close on Labor Day, at the Detroit Zoo.

Forty animatronic dinosaurs that snarl and move (and some that spit) will continue to entertain Detroit Zoo visitors for two more weekends: Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-13 and Sept. 19-20, 2015.

“Dinosauria,” which has welcomed more than 250,000 guests since it opened on May 22, initially had been slated to end on Labor Day.

“By popular demand, we are keeping the dinosaurs around for one last roar before they go ‘extinct’,” said Ron Kagan, Detroit Zoological Society executive director and CEO.

Presented by Kroger and Michigan Education Savings Program, Dinosauria is the largest dinosaur exhibit of its kind in the country. Detroit Zoo visitors enter a veritable “Zoorassic World” as they travel back in time along a lush, winding, 5-acre DinoTrail recreating prehistoric life. Enormous prehistoric creatures lurk at every turn, including adult dinosaurs, youngsters and even a nest with eggs and hatchlings.

Dinosauria is open Saturday and Sunday only, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Sept. 20. Tickets are $5 with Detroit Zoo admission for visitors ages 2 and older and are available at main admissions, the Dinosauria ticket booth or online.
