CLINTON TWP., MI — Dunya Barash is the new director of operations at Families Against Narcotics, the Macomb County-based nonprofit announced Tuesday.

In its news release, FAN said Barash has seen and experienced how the ripple effects of substance use, the criminal justice system and mental health issues can directly impact a family and communities.

“I am excited to begin my work with Families Against Narcotics and to continue to address the change that is much-needed within our systems,” Barash said.

Barash is a social worker by degree, as well as a Certified Prevention Specialist, and has experience in community organizing, policy change and engaging communities and teams to develop strategies to combat the opioid crisis, according to a news release issued by FAN.

Barash is a first-generation immigrant who has shared her approach with the community, organizations, and people she serves, FAN said.

FAN Executive Director Linda Davis said in a statement she is thrilled to have Barash on board.

“Dunya is a social worker with an incredible background in the field of substance use disorder,” Davis said. “She has been involved in fundraising events, grant writing and oversight, and many other things that pertain to FAN. We are in good hands."
