Funeral Tuesday for Trooper Dragged Behind Trailer

Visitation and the funeral will both be in Fenton, and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linden.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Michigan State Police Trooper Chad Wolf, who died Friday after being dragged behind a trailer for several miles after his department-issued motorcycle was struck in a traffic accident.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Fenton High School gymnasium, 3200 W. Shiawassee Avenue, according to an obituary posted on the Sharp Funeral Homes website.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home’s Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road. Burial follows at Fairview Cemetery in Linden.

Wolf, 38, was on routine patrol in Oakland County Friday morning when a 72-year-old motorist hauling a trailer behind his vehicle abruptly switched lanes, striking Wolf’s motorcycle, police said. He was dragged for several miles before the motorist stopped at a rest stop near Holy.

The son of Lyle K. and Karen C. (Randan) Wolf, he was born in Geneseo, IL, on May 12, 1977. He received a bachelor’s degree from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL. He was a member of Great Lakes Baptist Church in Holly, where he served as a youth leader.

Wolf joined the Michigan State Police in 2008. His patrol area included Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

Survivors include his wife, Erin; four children, Autumn, Mikah, Korbin and Koltin; his parents; two brothers, William (Suzanne) Passalaqua of Illinois and Kent Wolf of New York; a sister, Amanda E. Wolf of Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Helen Blair of Ortonville.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ray Blair.
