MACOMB COUNTY, MI — Colleen Wymer couldn't believe it when she was notified she'd won the $1 million Powerball prize from the Michigan Lottery.

She was used to winning a couple of dollars here and there, but logging on to her Michigan Lottery account online, she was surprised to see a few additional zeroes included in her winnings.

“I often play the Powerball and Mega Millions games and win a few dollars here and there,” Wymer, 62, said. “When I logged into my Lottery account a few days after the drawing and saw a prize notification, I thought: ‘Wow I hope it’s more than a couple dollars this time!’

“When I saw it was a $1 million prize, I couldn’t believe it.”

Wymer, a Clinton Township resident, matched the five white balls — 34-38-42-61-62 — in the March 17 drawing to win the prize. She'd purchased her ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.

She told MichiganLottery officials she still hadn't decided what she would do with her winning when she claimed her prize.

“I haven’t even thought about what I will do with my winnings yet because I’m still in shock. It doesn’t seem real,” she said.

The last Michigander to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot was the Wolverine FLL lottery club, according to MLive, which won a $1.05 billion jackpot in March and plans to give back to the community with its winnings.
