Mystery Restaurant Coming to Clinton Township

A national chain restaurant is planned for the location that formerly housed the La Shish and Palm Palace Mediterranean restaurants.

Clinton Township, MI — A new national chain restaurant is moving into the space formerly occupied by La Shish and Palm Palace, but Clinton Township officials say they don't know which chain it is.

“We don’t know what it’s going to be,” Township Supervisor Robert Cannon told The Macomb Daily. “An engineering firm based in Chicago will not divulge who it is and paperwork hasn’t been submitted to our planning department yet.”

The Palm Palace took over the La Shish building in 2013, but was short-lived. Both restaurants served Mediterranean fare.

Owner Ahmad Hodroj abruptly shuttered it in 2015, but held on to the property and said he he was looking for investors to either start a new restaurant or sell the property to a national chain.

Cannon speculated the new owners will demolish the building. Fencing that had been placed around the property when it closed has been removed.

“Now that the fence has been removed, there’s a lot of hope for something new to move onto the property,” Cannon said. “We’re glad to have that eyesore of the fencing gone and looking forward to whatever is coming.”
