Shelving, Inc. celebrates 25 years of Benefit on the Bay

Event to feature impressive new gifts, live entertainment and silent auction

Shelving, Inc., a second-generation family-owned provider of corporate and consumer shelving and storage solutions, announces the 25th anniversary of the annual Benefit on the Bay fundraiser on Friday, August 24 with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Capuchin Soup Kitchen. Mike Schodowski, vice president of sales for Shelving, Inc., made the announcement.

The event will take place at MacRay Harbor on Lake St. Claire in Harrison Twp. starting at 5:30 p.m. It will once again be emceed by Detroit media personality Jay Towers, a morning news anchor for Fox 2 Detroit and host of the Jay Towers in the Morning program on 100.3 WNIC. Admittance to the event includes complimentary valet parking, appetizers, dinner, beer and wine. Guests can also enjoy classic Detroit Coney Dogs during the after-glow party. A wide variety of entertainment ranging from live music to a silent auction will be available, including bigger and better gifts than ever before to commemorate the fundraiser’s 25th anniversary. World-renowned speed painter Dave Santia will also be on-site to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces to be actioned off following dinner.

“We never could have imagined how much Benefit on the Bay has grown over the years, let alone hitting the quarter century milestone. It’s inspiring to see individuals and businesses from local communities around metro Detroit attend and support the Capuchin Soup Kitchen,” said Schodowski. “Throughout the event’s 25-year history, we have raised more than $1.4 million for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, and we look forward to adding to that total this year while Shelving, Inc. underwrites the entire event to ensure that 100 percent of the proceeds benefit this deserving organization that’s making a lasting impact on our community.”

Tickets to Benefit on the Bay will be available in early July for $75 a piece and can only be purchased in advanced through the event’s website at www.benefitonthebay.org until August 5. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. Sponsorship opportunities, program ads and donations of auction items are also currently being accepted. In addition to Benefit on the Bay, Shelving, Inc. happily donates 10 percent of its profits to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen annually. This past January, the company also hosted the fifth annual Bocce with the Brothers fundraiser, which raised more than $32,000 for the Capuchin Ministries and about $195,000 since its inception six years ago.
