Weekend Weather Spells Bad News for 'Supermoon' Fans

A cloudy and sometimes rainy weekend is shaping up for metro Detroit with cloudy skies and rain chances beginning Saturday.

Here’s what’s on tap, according to the National Weather Service:

Friday: Today’s high should top out around 76 under mostly sunny skies,, with clouds increasing overnight. Expect a chilly low around 54 degrees.

Saturday: There’s a 30 percent chance of rain after 3 p.m. Saturday’s high temperature should be around 78 degrees. Mostly cloudy skies overnight are expected to obscure August’s “supermoon.” Rain chances increase to 50 percent Saturday night.

Sunday: More showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast, but skies will be partly sunny with a high around 80, the NWS said. Rain chances are 30 percent.

The work week ahead: The week will start off with sunny skies and a high near 82. Next week looks to be sunny and summery, with no rain in the forecast.
