Where To See Independence Day Fireworks This Weekend

Several southeast Michigan communities have fireworks displays and celebrations going on Friday and the Fourth of July.

If you’re starting to plan your Independence Day celebrations – and you should be – here’s a list of some of the fireworks displays in southeast Michigan. Some displays are scheduled in advance of the Fourth of July weekend.

Friday and Saturday, July 3-4

22nd Annual Salute to America, 9:45 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, July 1-4, Greenfield Village at The Henry Ford, 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn; advance tickets for non-members, $25 for ages 13 and older, $15.50 for ages 5-12 $6 parking; for members, $21.25 for ages 13 and older, $13.25 for ages 5-12, parking free; costs increase $4 for members and non-members at the door. This four-day celebration includes games and activities for the kids, holiday food from The Henry Ford’s award-winning culinary staff and music by Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the U.S. Army Field Band, Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus. The grand finale features the DSO playing Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, featuring authentic cannon fire and a spectacular fireworks display accompanied by live patriotic music.

Friday, July 3

Birmingham/Beverly Hills Fireworks, dusk, Friday, July 3, Lincoln Hills Golf Course, 2666 W. 14 Mile, Beverly Hills; free.

Hazel Park Raceway Fireworks, 10:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, 1650 E. 10 Mile Road, Hazel Park; free admission and parking; free. Arrive early – say 6 or 7 p.m. – to beat the crowds, enjoy thoroughbred racing, living music and dinner. It’s all free, except for the food.

Manchester Fireworks Display, dusk (typically, 10:15 p.m.), Friday, July 3, Carr Park, 600 W. Main St., Machester, free. The Manchester Men’s Club sponsors this annual display.

Sylvan Lake Fireworks, 10 p.m., Friday, July 3, over Sylvan Lake at the Oakland County Boat Club, 2330 Ferndale St., Sylvan Lake; free admission, parking $15 in advance or $20 the day of the fireworks. The Oakland County Boat Club sponsors this fireworks display.

Whitmore Lake Fireworks, dusk Friday, July 3, viewing across from the post office, 9725 Main St., Whitmore Lake; free.

Oakland County Fair, 10 p.m. Friday, July 3, Springfield Oaks County Park, 12451 Andersonville Road, Davisburg; $10 for parking and entry, $5 admission if you walk to the fairgrounds. The fireworks display commemorates the opening day of the fair, which runs July 3-12.

Plymouth Township Fireworks, 10:15 p.m. Friday, July 3, Township Park, 46640 Ann Arbor Trail, Plymouth; free.

Wolverine Lake Tiki Night and Fireworks, dusk Friday, July 3, Wolverine Lake in Commerce Township; free. This fantastic display includes traditional fireworks as well a a variety of tiki candles on the shore.

Saturday, July 4

Clawson Fourth of July Celebration, dusk Saturday, July 4, Clawson City Park, 935 N. Custer Ave., Clawson; $2 per person for park entry.

Groveland Oaks Park Fireworks, 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4, Groveland Oaks Park, 14555 Dixie Highway, Holly; $10/vehicle after 5 p.m.

Huntington Woods Fireworks, 10:05 p.m. Saturday, July 4 (rain date is Sunday, July 5), Rackham Golf Course, 10100 W. 10 Mile Road, Huntington Woods; free. Residents are encouraged to bike to this event, but there’s parking available too. Be sure to arrive early.

Independence Fest, 10 p.m. Saturday, July 4, Clintonwood Park, 6000 Clarkston Road, Clarkston; $10/car after 6 p.m.; $2/shuttle from Clarkston High School, 6093 Flemings lake Road. The celebration starts with a 10 a.m parade starting at St. Daniel Catholic Church, and includes carnival rides, food, craft vendors music, activities for kids and a celebration of veterans.

Lake Orion Fourth of July Fireworks, dusk Saturday, July 4 (rain date is Sunday, July 5), Green’s Park, 100 S Park Blvd., Lake Orion; free. Enjoy this giant fireworks display wherever you’re at around the lake. Expect some spectacular displays, including eight-inch rounds that will go 200 feet higher and 150 feet wider than in previous years.

Trenton Independence Day Fireworks, dusk Saturday, July 4, Riverside Drive between Harrison and Atwood avenues, or along the riverfront, Trenton; free. This display is one of the biggest of its kind in Michigan and is preceded by a live concert from 8-10 p.m.

White Lake Fireworks, dusk, Saturday, July 4 (rain date is Sunday, July 5), south end of White Lake in Highland Township; free. This spectacular two-barge display is sponsored by the White Lake Citizens League.

Grosse Pointe Farms Regatta and Fireworks, dusk Saturday, July 4, Pier Park, 350 Lake Shore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms; free. The regatta, sponsored by the Grosse Pointe Farms Boat Club, takes place July 3-5. The celebration also includes live music, boat races, and plenty of fun activities for the entire family to enjoy. A free concert from 7 until 9:45 p.m. on Saturday is capped by the fireworks display.
