2 Men Arrested After Dearborn Carjacking, Police Chase: Cops

Two men were arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with a Dearborn carjacking and police chase, according to police.

DEARBORN, MI — Two men were arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with a Dearborn carjacking and police chase, according to police.

The victim told officers a man with a long gun took his Dodge Charger in the area of Ford Road and Reuter Street near Oakman Boulevard just after midnight Monday, according to police.

Officers found the Charger shortly later, but the driver sped away and lead officers on a chase, according to police.

Officers chased the Charger before ending the pursuit after losing the car, according to police.

Officers found the Charger again near the Southfield Freeway in Dearborn and started chasing it again before ending the pursuit once officers lost the car, according to police.

Officers then found the Charger in a nearby neighborhood at roughly 2 a.m. Tuesday morning and called for a special operations team and surrounded the vehicle, according to police.

Two men were arrested in connection with the carjacking and chase, according to police.

Investigators also found a loaded AK-47 in the Charger, according to police.

"This incident could have ended in tragedy, and I am thankful that no one was injured," Police Chief Issa Shahin said in a statement.
