Dearborn Heights Man Points Rifle At Man, 4-Year-Old Boy: Police

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI — A Dearborn Heights man is facing charges after he pointed a rifle at a Detroit father and son who were doing yard work at a neighboring home, according to police.

Mark Denis Grzybowski, 63, was charged with one count of carrying a weapon with unlawful intent, one count of using a pneumatic gun during a felony and two counts of misdemeanor assault, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Grzybowski was placed in jail on a $50,000 bond. If he is released from jail, he must wear a GPS tether. His next court date is scheduled for May 8.

He faces up to five years for the weapons charge and up to two years for the felony firearm charge, if convicted. The misdemeanor assault charges are each punishable by up to 93 days in jail.

Prosecutors said Grzybowski pointed a pneumatic rifle at a 31-year-old Detroit man and the man's 4-year-old son at roughly 1:30 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 24000 block of Eton Avenue near Telegraph Road and Annapolis Street in Dearborn Heights.

Grzybowski then barricaded himself inside his home for four hours before surrendering to officers, according to police.

Police did not report any injuries in the incident.

"The teamwork all staff displayed along with our partners from the Michigan State Police who provided tactical assets was remarkable and contributed to the safe outcome of this incident over a 4-hour period," Dearborn Heights Police Chief Jerrod Hart said.
