2 Men Electrocuted In Detroit Electric Substation

2 men were found electrocuted in a Detroit electric substation, police investigating why the men might have been tehre

DETROIT, MI- Two men had broke into the Detroit Public Lighting Department substation had been electrocuted earlier Friday morning in an incident being involved by the police.

The bodies which had been discovered touching together at 6:50 a.m. after Fire officials were called to the scene in the 6600 block of Raymond near Harper Avenue, it was speculated that the men may have been trying to steal copper. According to a spokeswoman on the behalf of the police.

Early reports had said that the men were shocked by nearly 35,000 to 38,000 volts of electricity, but it was then updated by police and the lighting officials that the men had touched a 24,000- volt conductor, according to Jonathan Smith, a senior electric system supervisor.

At around 4 a.m., the Public Lighting Department had been called to the area for a power outage because they are the ones who operate the station, that was when workers discovered the bodies and the Fire officials were called at 6:50 a.m.

The Detroit police are now now overseeing the investigation.
