Jealous Lover Shoots, Injures Ex's New Boyfriend At Oakland County Apartment Complex: Cops

Police said the man was upset his ex-girlfriend was seeing another man.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI β€” A Detroit man has been charged in connection with a non-fatal shooting at a Farmington Hills apartment complex last weekend, according to police.

Officers found a 29-year-old Farmington Hills man suffering from gunshot wounds at the Retreat apartment complex, near 12 Mile and Middlebelt roads at 2:30 a.m. last Saturday, according to police.

The man was taken to Corewell Hospital Farmington Hills, where he was listed in stable condition, according to police.

Sean McCombs, 28, was arrested in connection with the shooting and charged with assault with intent to murder, felony firearm, malicious destruction of property and driving with a suspended license.

He pleaded not guilty and was placed in jail with a $250,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 7. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison for the assault with intent to murder charge.

Police said McCombs was upset that his ex-girlfriend was seeing another man and drove to the apartment complex where she lived early Saturday morning.

McCombs, who was armed with a handgun, then tried to kick open the door before the 29-year-old man intervened and a fight between the two broke out, according to police.

During the fight, McCombs fire four shots at the man, striking in twice in the hands and once in the hip, according to police.

McCombs then drove away from the apartment complex, according to police.

Shortly later, officers spotted McCombs' car and initiated a traffic stop, according to police.

McCombs had a loaded handgun on him and admitted he shot the other man, but claimed it was in self-defense, according to police.

The 29-year-old Farmington Hills man is expected to survive, according to police.
