His wife asked if it was him, but he told lottery officials that he didn’t have his ticket with him to check.

"That night, my wife and I looked the ticket over together, and that’s when I found out I was the big winner! I didn’t know how to feel at first because I didn’t believe it was real," the lucky player told lottery officials. "Now that it’s finally sunk in, it feels great!"

With his winnings, he plans to buy a new vehicle, a new home and a cottage, according to lottery officials.

The previous Fantasy 5 record was a $924,880 jackpot won on Jan. 17, 2020, by a single ticket purchased online at MichiganLottery.com.
