Police: Novi PD Promotes Two Detectives To Assistant Chief & Sgt.

Detective Sgt. Scott Baetens promoted to assistant chief & Decective Kristie Gruenwald promoted to sergeant by Novi Police Department

NOVI, MI- Two veteran police officers of the Novi Police Department were promoted to new positions within the department last week.

Detective Sergeant Scott Beatens, a member of the department since 2001, was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police, while Detective Kristie Gruenwald, who joined the department in 2002 was promoted to Sergeant.

Baetens, is an alumni of Novi High School, has held several assignments throughout his career. Serving as a patrol sergeant, field training officer, and detective, according to a statement released by the Novi Police Department.

Gruenwald came to Novi after serving as a police officer for Clawson. It was there she worked as detective where she was assigned D.A.R.E. and crime prevention duties, she is a member of the Hostage Negotiation team.

"It was my honor to promote Assistant Chief Scott Baetens and Sergeant Kristie Gruenwald to key leadership positions within our organization, " said Novi Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police David E. Molloy. "I have every confidence both will embrace their new responsibilities and I look forward to working with them in their assignments."
