Rochester Hills Culver's Raises Money For Splash Pad Shooting Victims

The fast food restaurant donated 50 percent of Wednesday's sales through 9 p.m. to the victims' families.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A Rochester Hills Culver's restaurant raised money Wednesday to help the families affected by the mass shooting at a splash pad in June.

The fast food restaurant, located on Auburn Road just east of Rochester Road, donated 50 percent of Wednesday's sales through 9 p.m. to the victims' families.

Members of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office and Rochester Hills Fire Department were also at the restaurant to help deliver food and greet guests.

"Neighbors helping neighbors, I feel it’s our job as part of the community, and it’s a wonderful community," Restaurant owner Vickie Zielke told WWJ.

Nine people were injured on June 15 when a gunman opened fire at the Brooklands Splash Pad in Rochester Hills. All nine victims, including, seven adults and two children were treated and released from nearby hospitals.

The suspected shooter, 42-year-old Michael William Nash, of Shelby Township, fatally shot himself inside a Shelby Township mobile home shortly after the shooting, according to the sheriff's office.

The splash pad reopened two weeks after the shooting.
