Skateboard Park Coming To St. Clair Shores

City council recently approved plans to build a park at Kyte Monroe Memorial Park and hope to have it open by mid June.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — If all goes as planned, skateboard and BMX bicycling enthusiasts will have a place to call their own in St. Clair Shores in 2018. City council recently approved plans to build a park at Kyte Monroe Memorial Park and hope to have it open by mid-June, according to a C & G Newspapers report.

“The park will include several modular components, including grinds, ledges and ramps attached to a concrete slab. It will be accessible to wheelchair users, skateboarders and BMX bicyclists. In addition, the site plan includes concrete sidewalk, fencing, minor drainage improvements, the relocation and replacement of existing light fixtures, and landscaping.”
“There’s a segment of our youth that do not have the necessary facilities in the community to enjoy and participate in the sport that they’re passionate about,” said Parks and Recreation Director Greg Esler. “We’re looking to have the ability for the youth and special needs and other groups to enjoy recreational activities.”
