Detroit Man Drowns In Oakland County Lake: Police
Police said the 62-year-old man lost his balance while walking on a boat and fell into the water.
WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, MI β A 62-year-old Detroit man drowned in an Oakland County lake last Friday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
Christopher Edward Vaquera walking to the rear of a boat that was on White Lake in White Lake Township at 6:30 p.m. when he lost his balance and fell into the lake, according to the sheriff's office.
Vaquera's brother, who was driving the boat, threw a floatation device into the water to try and help Vaquera stay above water, but it failed, according to the sheriff's office.

Two passing kayakers pulled Vaquera from the water and took him to the shore, according to the sheriff's office.
Vaquera was then taken to a nearby hospital where he died, according to the sheriff's office.

Neither Vaquera nor his brother were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident, according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators believe alcohol played a role in the incident, according to the sheriff's office.
