2 Kids, 2 Adults Killed In 5-Car Construction Zone Crash In MN

​Two 9-year-olds and two adults were killed in a five-car crash that happened in a construction zone in northern Minnesota Wednesday.

Ten people were involved in the crash in total. In addition to the four killed, three others suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MN — Two 9-year-olds and two adults were killed in a five-car crash that happened in a construction zone in northern Minnesota Wednesday afternoon.

Ten people were involved in the crash in total. In addition to the four killed, three others suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, just before 3 p.m., a GMC Acadia, Ford Escape, 2004 Mack CX semi, and Honda Pilot were stopped in traffic due to construction.

Authorities said a 2009 International 9900 semi traveling at highway speeds struck the stopped vehicles.

Road conditions were dry at the time, according to investigators.

The four people killed in the crash were identified as:

  • Hope Mae Oakgrove, 9, of Blackduck
  • Charlotte White, 9, of Blackduck
  • Vincent Louis Dow, 65, of Blackduck
  • Bonnie Mae Dow, 66, of Blackduck

All four were traveling in the 2007 Honda Pilot.

The driver of the 2009 International 9900, driver of the 2004 Mack CX, and a passenger in the 2022 Ford Escape were hospitalized but are expected to survive their injuries.
