MINNESOTA — The Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport "crushed" its previous record high of 51 degrees on Tuesday by reaching 57 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Meanwhile, Eau Claire, Wisconsin crushed its record of 48 degrees by hitting 56 degrees.

Historically, February can bring some of the coldest temperatures of winter. The coldest day on record in Minnesota was Feb. 2, 1996, when it reached 60 degrees below zero.

But despite record snow, February 2023 was the third-warmest on record nationwide since record-keeping began in 1895, according to the Climate Prediction Center report,

Here's the specific NWS forecast from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport:

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday Night: Showers likely, mainly after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 44. Breezy, with a south southeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday: Showers. High near 53. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers before 9pm, then a chance of rain, mainly between 9pm and midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 37. South wind around 15 mph becoming west southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: A chance of rain before 8am, then a chance of rain and snow between 8am and 2pm, then a chance of snow after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. West northwest wind around 15 mph.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. West northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
