Ellison Holds Slim Lead Over Republican Wardlow In AG Race

Keith Ellison holds a five-point lead over Republican candidate Doug Wardlow in Minnesota's attorney general race.

Keith Ellison holds a five-point lead over Republican candidate Doug Wardlow in Minnesota's attorney general race, according to a new MPR News/Star Tribune Minnesota Poll.

Ellison, a congressman who represents Minnesota's 5th District, is ahead by 41 percent to Wardlow's 36 percent in the poll of 800 likely and registered voters across the state. Another 18 percent said they are undecided.

Ellison's campaign has been damaged by recent allegations of domestic abuse. Ellison's ex-girlfriend has accused him of yelling profanities at her and dragging her off a bed during a dispute in 2015. Ellison has denied the allegation.

In the poll, voters were asked about the domestic abuse allegation. The poll shows that 57 percent said they didn't know if they believed the allegations, 21 percent said they did believe them and 22 percent said they did not.
