2022 Property Valuations
Our Assessing Division has been busy fielding calls from residents concerned about the historic increases in value they’re seeing in the statements they received this week. Due to the competitive real estate market, the combined value of all single-family homes in Eden Prairie increased by almost 20% in 2021, reaching nearly 10 years of typical valuation growth in just 12 months. The combined value went from $6,388,026,700 for the 2021 assessment to $7,657,973,200 for the 2022 assessment. This historic growth took place in most communities across the metro.

The process for determining assessed values of homes is strictly defined by the Minnesota Department of Revenue and Minnesota State Statute. The market value assigned by City assessors must represent the most probable selling price of the property as of the assessment date. As a result, the actual value increase for each home in Eden Prairie may vary widely and there is no direct link between a property’s increase in value and what homeowners should expect to see in their proposed tax statements later this year. Annual Ice Show
The Eden Prairie Figure Skating Club is celebrating its 40th anniversary this weekend by going on a nostalgic journey through some of the most iconic movie and stage performances of the last four decades. This family-friendly ice show performance will highlight fan favorites from past ice shows, with a special tribute to the 2022 Winter Olympics. Performances take place March 11, 12 and 14 at the Community Center.

Everything Spring Expo
The Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 20th Annual Home, Landscape & Garden Everything Spring Expo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at Grace Church. The event features experts who can offer advice, insight and ideas for renovation projects, big and small. Residents of Eden Prairie are invited to visit the City's Water Resources Booth to provide feedback on the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan.

The City recently welcomed Mahagony Shaffer as a utility billing technician. Before joining the City, Mahagony worked with Wells Fargo Equipment Finance. Her educational background is in business management with a banking and finance concentration.
