Suspect Smashes Laundry Equipment, Makes Off with $200 in Cash

Edina Police also arrested a pair of 13-year-old girls who tried to steal $125 in clothing from the Southdale Center jcpenney store.

Thursday, May 30

  • Police responded to Normandale Elementary School on a report of theft from auto. A laptop and iPad were taken from a locked vehicle by an unknown person. Total loss is estimated at $2,100.
  • Police responded to the 7000 block of York Avenue South on a report of theft. A bicycle valued at $230 was taken by an unknown suspect. The bicycle was not secured in any way at the time of theft.
  • Police responded to the Lund's at 50th & France on a report of theft. An unknown suspect stole miscellaneous items valued at $283.75 in total.

Friday, May 31

  • Billie Jo Mitchell, 39, of Brooklyn Center, was arrested for 4th degree DWI after his vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation near Hwy. 100 and Benton Avenue.
  • Police responded to South View Middle School on a report of theft. A laptop and calculator were stolen by an unknown suspect from a backpack at the school. Total loss is estimated at $1,700.
  • Police responded to the 3900 block of 50th Street on a report of theft. An unattended phone was taken by an unknown suspect from a store counter.
  • Police responded to the 6400 block of York Avenue on a report of theft. Laundry equipment was damaged inside of a building, with an unknown suspect taking $200 in cash from the machine.
  • Robert Earl Williams Jr., 23, of Minneapolis, was cited for providing a false name to police after a traffic stop at the intersection of 67th Street and Xerxes Avenue.
  • Sashia Erin Dosch, 21, of Falcon Heights, was cited for no insurance and allowing an unlicensed driver after a traffic stop at the intersection of 67th Street and Xerxes Avenue.
  • Police responded to Southdale Center on a report of a stolen phone sold to a victim.

Saturday, June 1

  • Tyler Ryan Paskey, 29, of Lakeville, was arrested for 2nd degree DWI and driving after revocation after a traffic stop at the intersection of Hwy. 100 and 50th Street.
  • Police responded to the 7200 block of York Avenue South on a report of tampering with auto. A vehicle window was broken in an attempt to enter, but no theft was reported.
  • Two 13-year-old females were arrested for theft after attempting to steal $125 in clothing from the Southdale Center JCPenney store.
  • Forud Shafizadeh, 23, of Edina, was arrested for assault in the 5700 block of Benton Avenue.

Sunday, June 2

  • Police responded to Pinstripes on a report of theft. A phone valued at $299 was taken from a table at the restaurant by an unknown suspect. The item was left unattended at the time of theft, police report.
  • Police responded to the 5800 block of Garden Avenue on a report of burglary. An unknown male entered an unlocked porch at the residence, then fled the scene when he was seen by a resident.
  • Police responded to the 6500 block of Parkwood Road on a report of theft from auto. Clothing and an iPod valued at $160 were taken from a vehicle by an unknown suspect.
  • Devon Latony Gibson, 22, of Richfield, was arrested for theft after attempting to steal $70 in cash from a register at the Southdale Center Macy's store.
