Fridley Man Found Guilty of Second-Degree Murder

A jury found a Fridley man guilty of second-degree murder in the killing of another man outside of a Northeast Minneapolis bar last year.

A jury found a Fridley man guilty of second-degree murder in the killing of another man outside of a Northeast Minneapolis bar last year, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Wednesday. Dejonte Antwon Davis, 30, was found guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Robert Urman, Sr., 36, of St. Paul.

The jury acquitted Davis of first-degree, pre-meditated murder. They received the case Monday morning and return their verdict just before noon on Tuesday, according to a news release.

According to the criminal complaint, Davis and Urman got into an argument inside the Palace Bar, 2500 Fourth Street N.E. just before 12:30 a.m. on March 7, 2015. The two men took the argument outside where Davis pulled out a gun and shot Urman six times in the chest as he tried to run away.
