Bus Stop Crash: Driver Arrested After Hitting 3 Rogers Students

Three Rogers students were struck by an oncoming pickup truck​ while walking towards their school bus Thursday.

Three Rogers High School students are fighting for their lives Thursday after they were struck by an oncoming pickup truck walking towards their school bus in Otsego. Police say the school bus had its stop arm extended while waiting to pick up the students when the crash occurred.

The students injured in the crash were identified as Greta Jenson, age 15, from Otsego; Beckett Olson, age 15, from Otsego and Ian Orina, age 15, from Otsego. All three are at the Hennepin County Medical center where their condition is listed as critical, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

The 22-year-old driver of the pickup truck from Lexington, Minnesota was arrested and booked into the Wright County Jail on criminal vehicular operation charges, according to police.

The collision

At 6:51 a.m., the Wright County Sheriff’s Office received 911 calls of a vehicle that had struck several pedestrians at a school bus stop. Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the intersection of 78th St NE and Parrish Ave NE in Otsego.

Upon arrival, authorities found that three juvenile pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle. Initial reports indicate that an Elk River School District bus was stopped on 78th St NE at Parrish Ave NE with its stop arm out waiting to the pick up students, according to a news release.
