Amazon Fulfillment Center Shooting: Man Killed In Lakeville Identified

Authorities have identified the man shot and killed in the parking lot of the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Lakeville.

On Saturday just after 4 a.m., Lakeville Police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Amazon Fulfillment Center at 9800 217th Street West on a report of an altercation. A man was found shot dead and another man was arrested, police said.

LAKEVILLE, MN — Authorities have identified the man shot and killed in the parking lot of the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Lakeville.

He was Ahmed Ibrahim Cariif, 22, of Faribault.

Cariif died from a gunshot wound to the chest. His death was ruled a homicide by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

On Saturday just after 4 a.m., Lakeville Police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Amazon Fulfillment Center at 9800 217th Street West on a report of an altercation.

At the scene, officers found a man with a gunshot wound. First responders performed lifesaving efforts, but the man was ultimately declared dead at the parking lot.

A second man — 24 years old — was arrested near the victim and remains in custody, according to investigators. A firearm was found at the scene.

"At this time, it appears the altercation was limited to these two individuals," Lakeville police said. "Investigators are working to determine their relationship to each other, what led up to the altercation and their specific connection to the business (Amazon)."

The Lakeville Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office.
