Educator Who Lives In Lakeville Resigns After Child Sex Sting Arrest

SAVAGE, MN — Mohamed Selim, a Lakeville resident who was the principal of Eagle Ridge Middle School in ISD 191, resigned May 23 after he was accused of trying to hire an undercover cop posing as a 15-year-old prostitute, according to a report by Sun Thisweek. The school district approved the resignation at a May 26 school board meeting, the report said.

Selim was arrested May 17 in St. Louis Park and later charged with agreeing to hire someone he believed to be 13-16 years old for prostitution. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a fee of up to $20,000, or both, according to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court.

According to ISD 191, Associate Principal Bill Heim will serve as acting principal, and counselors will be available for students and staff.

"Following these upsetting allegations, the district's immediate and primary concern is for the well-being of our students," district officials told Patch in a previous statement. "Based on the information the district has seen so far, there's no indication that District 191 students are involved. The district will cooperate with law enforcement as they investigate and will take appropriate actions as dictated by district policies and procedures."
