Lakeville Woman, 23, Dies After Crash In Snowstorm

Hannah Elizabeth Almany was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center, where she passed away early Thursday morning.

LAKEVILLE, MN — A Lakeville woman involved in a crash on Wednesday afternoon has died as a result of her injuries, authorities said in an update Thursday. Hannah Elizabeth Almany, 23, was southbound on County Road 50 near Jaguar Avenue when she lost control of her 2001 Honda Accord, crossed the median and entered the northbound lanes of County Road 50, according to Lakeville police.

Almany’s Accord was struck broadside by a northbound 2016 Buick Encore driven by Amy Alene Torseth, 40, of Savage. Both Torseth and her 11-year-old son suffered minor injuries. Both were treated at an area hospital.

Almany was transported by Allina Ambulance to the Hennepin County Medical Center where she passed away early Thursday morning.

The crash was reported at 3:14 p.m. The initial investigation determined that occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts and airbags deployed. It was snowing and roads were slippery at the time of the crash.

Alcohol or drugs were not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to a news release.

County Road 50 northbound was closed for several hours while Lakeville police and the Minnesota State Patrol the scene.

With more snow in the forecast for Saturday, Lakeville police are asking parents to talk with young drivers about how to drive on winter roads. "All drivers need to slow down, be patient and buckle up on slippery roads," the department said.
