Megan Blazek Hired As Lakeville Schools' First MTSS Director

The new position was created thanks to state grants and is designed to help bridge the learning gap that occurred due to the pandemic.

LAKEVILLE, MN —Lakeville Area Schools has announced that Megan Blazek has been hired as the district's first director of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).

Blazek's hiring is pending approval by the school board, which will meet on Thursday. If approved, Blazek is scheduled to begin her new job on July 1.

The district said the new position has been made possible thanks to recent grants from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), which are designed to bridge the learning gap that occurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic and support student needs.

"I am looking forward to learning more about the great teaching and learning experiences educators are providing our students, as well as supporting the academic, social-emotional and behavior intervention systems," Blazek said. "My passion lies in meeting students where they are at in their learning and preparing them to have a future filled with joy and wellbeing."

Blazek continued: "Connectedness is one of Lakeville's greatest qualities and I look forward to being part of the team."

Blazek, who was once a student in Lakeville Area Schools, currently serves as a middle school principal at Farmington Area Public Schools, where she has focused on MTSS.

According to the MDE, the Minnesota Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MnMTSS) is a systemic, continuous improvement framework for ensuring positive social, emotional, behavioral, developmental and academic outcomes for every student.

Blazek has 15 years of experience in teaching and educational leadership in K-12 public schools. Prior to becoming a principal, she served as an interim principal, assistant principal, dean and science teacher at Eastern Carver County Schools.
