Woman Found Dead In Lakeville, Man Arrested In Rosemount Thursday

Police responded to a residence in the 17000 block of Encina Path on a report of a "significant amount of blood" found inside of a home.

LAKEVILLE, MN — Police are investigating after a woman was found dead at a home in Lakeville Thursday night.

At about 11:10 p.m., the Lakeville Police Department responded to a residence in the 17000 block of Encina Path on a report of a "significant amount of blood" found inside of a home.

Officers at the scene found a woman's body. The 911 caller was a family member and is not believed to have been involved in the incident, police said.

Investigators began looking for an adult male suspect, and an alert was put out to locate a vehicle associated with him.

Just after 11:22 p.m., the Rosemount Police Department responded to a "suspicion call" in the 3700 block of 148th Street in Rosemount and found a vehicle associated with the suspect a short distance away, authorities said.

The vehicle was unoccupied.

After a short search of the area, the suspect was located in a backyard and taken into custody at approximately 11:50 p.m., police said.

He was found with self-inflicted injuries and was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he remains in custody and their care, according to investigators.

The Lakeville Police Department, Rosemount Police Department, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are working together on the case.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the victim.
