Latest MN Vaccine And Mask Mandates: See Who's Requiring Them

TWIN CITIES, MN — A slew of companies, universities, and other institutions across the United States announced new mask and vaccine mandates recently. The requirements come as the highly infectious delta variant of the coronavirus brings a surge in new cases and hospitalizations across the nation.

On Saturday, Florida reported its highest number of new coronavirus cases in a single day since the pandemic started, according to the CDC.

In Minnesota, new cases are up by 170 percent, the New York Times reports.

The vaccine is effective against the delta variant, and more schools and companies are requiring it. Some are requiring masks again, also.

Minneapolis, St. Paul Issue New Mask Guidance And Restrictions

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter issued new masking guidance and restrictions in a joint announcement Tuesday. Both mayors will now require masks for people in city-owned buildings and for all city staff.

The mayors are also encouraging everyone to resume masking when indoors, but are not requiring it through law. Read more here.

University Of St. Thomas Will Require COVID-19 Vaccine

The University of St. Thomas Monday announced it will require all students, faculty, and staff to be fully vaccinated before returning to campus for this fall. Read more here.

At least two other private colleges in Minnesota will require the vaccine this fall.
