Shots Fired Report Prompts Southdale Mall Lockdown

No injuries occurred, but officers found bullet casings and damage to windows at the mall Wednesday evening.

EDINA, MN — Edina's Southdale Center shopping mall went into lockdown Wednesday night following a report of shots fired.

At about 8 p.m., Edina police responded to a report of shots fired near Door 8 at the mall, near the Macy’s store.

At the scene, officers determined there was no active shooter situation. However, the mall was put into lockdown for one hour as a precaution while officers cleared the floors and searched for victims, police said.

Officers found bullet casings and damage to windows by Door 8.

No victims were found at the mall or local hospitals, according to investigators. Edina police said there is no threat to the public at this time.

Authorities will interview witnesses and review security footage as part of the investigation into the incident.
