Target Recalls 'Letters To Santa' Mailbox For Cutting Hazard

Target has received reports that seven people were cut when they reached into the mail slot, with three requiring medical attention.

MINNEAPOLIS — Target is recalling a Christmas-themed holiday product due to a safety issue. The slot on the "Letters to Santa Mailbox" has a sharp edge that can cause cuts, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The slot on the mailbox can be sharp, officials said. Target has received seven reports of lacerations from the slot, with three requiring medical attention.

The recall includes two products. Both were sold online and in stores nationwide:

  • Item Number 234-17-8556 — Letters to Santa Metal Mailbox – Red or White
  • Item Number 234-20-9275 — Letters to Santa Metal Mailboxes - Red & White (2 Count)

Customers are advised to stop using the recalled mailbox and return it to any Target store for a full refund in the form of a Target gift card. Customers can also contact Target to receive a prepaid return label.
