Man Sent Drug-Soaked Letters To Stillwater, Minnesota Prisons: Feds

ST. PAUL, MN — A St. Paul man pleaded guilty amid his criminal trial last week after prison officials said he mailed letters soaked in a hallucinogenic-like drug to several Minnesota prisons.

Walter “Disney” Davis, 40, pleaded guilty to attempted distribution of a drug analogue, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and illegally possessing firearms as a felon, according to U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger.

Davis tried in April 2021 to mail six letters soaked in a “synthetic cannabinoid substance which produces hallucinogenic effects” to people being held at Minnesota Department of Corrections facilities in Stillwater, Oak Park Heights, Faribault and Rush City, prosecutors said.

Prison officials seized the letters and later searched two homes Davis used, where they found several bags of fentanyl, scales, two loaded handguns, and drugs and supplies that were used to send the letters to DOC facilities, according to Luger’s office.

Davis pleaded guilty June 17, three days into his trial before a federal judge, prosecutors said. His sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled.
