Washington County Business Owner Didn’t Pay Taxes For 5 Years: Charges

The Forest Lake man owes about $24,600 in taxes, penalties and interest after not filing returns from 2016-2020, charges state.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — A Forest Lake man was recently charged in Washington County court after authorities said he didn’t pay taxes for five years.

Anthony Phinney, 36, was charged with five felony counts each of failing to pay income taxes and failing to file income tax returns, according to the Minnesota Department of Revenue.

Phinney didn’t file state income tax returns or pay income taxes from 2016-2020 for his concrete and construction businesses and owes about $24,600 in taxes, penalties and interest, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.

Phinney owns Pro Concrete, Inc., and Sitework Construction, LLC, the Twin Cities Pioneer Press reported.
