5 Juveniles Injured, One Seriously, In NH Car Crash

PELHAM, NH — Five juveniles from Massachusetts are injured, one seriously, after an overnight car crash in Pelham, local police said Friday morning.

The crash occurred at 3:25 a.m. near the intersection of Jericho Road and Currier Road, where officers found a 2013 Volkswagen Golf that had crashed into a tree and was fully engulfed in flames.

The five youths, who are from Dracut and Lowell, Massachusetts, were able to safely exit the vehicle on their own, according to police.

One suffered serious injuries that were not life-threatening, and the four others sustained only minor injuries. All were taken to a Massachusetts hospital.

"The accident remains under investigation, however, alcohol and speed appear to be a factor," Pelham police said.

The Dracut Police Department, Hudson Fire Department, Salem Fire Department, Windham Fire Department and Emergency Management, and the Methuen Fire Department assisted at the scene.
