Death Discovered At Concord Homeless Camp Still Under Investigation: Follow-Up

Concord deputy police chief: "There does not appear to be any threat to the general public" concerning the death at the Steeplegate Mall.

CONCORD, NH — The death of a man discovered dead Tuesday at a homeless near the Steeplegate Mall is still under investigation, according to Concord police.

Police were tipped off to a possible deceased person at a site on the mall property, which is located at 270 Loudon Road. Officers confirmed a man was dead in a “makeshift tent,” Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department at around 9:30 p.m. A state medical examiner was requested to the camp later in the evening.

Thomas said an autopsy was performed Wednesday and results are pending, “however, there does not appear to be any threat to the general public in connection with this death.” The name of the deceased man is being withheld pending next of kin notification, he added. Thomas said the investigation remained “active and ongoing.”

Police were processing the scene for many hours from Tuesday evening until Wednesday afternoon.
