Man Found Dead Inside Tent At Concord Heights Homeless Camp

Concord police and others are investigating a man found dead inside his tent near the Steeplegate Mall in Concord on Tuesday night.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating the death of a man inside his tent on Tuesday night at a homeless camp not far from the Steeplegate Mall property.

Just after 9:30 p.m., police dispatch received a call from a man who reported finding a friend dead inside his tent. The man, he said, did not appear to be breathing. The man’s tent was in a homeless camp near the TD Bank off Route 106. Several officers were sent to the area and the witness was also called.

About 15 minutes later, the first arriving officer requested Concord fire and rescue teams to confirm the man had died. The officer said the scene appeared safe, while another suggested keeping “traffic down to a minimum” at the site. The evidence van was also requested to the scene.

At just before 10 p.m., the man was confirmed dead and fire and rescue teams cleared.

Officers began canvassing the area to see if there were any witnesses to anything strange or who may have known the man after one officer noted there appeared to be several trailers in the parking lot and people, too.
