Trees Catch On Fire After SUV Hits Utility Pole In Merrimack

Update: No injuries were reported after a vehicle lost control on Bean Road and struck a utility pole. Several trees in the area burned.

MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack police, and fire responded to Bean Road on Sunday for a report of a car that struck a pole, with wires down.

Dispatch updated responding just after 10 a.m. that the car was possibly on fire. A Merrimack police officer arrived and found everyone had safely removed themselves from the SUV and several trees were on fire due to the live electrical wires.

Firefighters and medics evaluated the driver of the car who appeared uninjured and did not require medical transport.

Eversource was called to the scene, and when they arrived shut the power off to a section of Bean Road. Once the power was shut off the fire in the trees was extinguished.

Bean Road was closed between Jefferson Drive and Kiara Drive while crews removed the pole and worked to repair the damage. It is unknown how long the road will be closed.
