Sex Offender Arrested After Taking Pictures Of Woman In Salem Bathroom

Travis Demers is facing charges of violation of privacy after a woman caught him recording her in a bathroom stall.

SALEM, NH — A 24-year-old man from Manchester was arrested after police say he was caught recording or taking photos of a woman while she was in a bathroom stall.

Travis Demers, 24, of Manchester is a registered sex offender and is facing charges of violation of privacy after the Salem Police Department issued a warrant for his arrest.

Back in May, a woman told Salem police she had been using the women's bathroom in a Mall Road business when she noticed someone holding a cell phone under the stall divider, either taking a video or photo of her. She got out and confronted the man outside the bathroom before providing police with a detailed description.

During the investigation, an officer obtained video surveillance of the man from outside the bathroom and used it to get a partial plate of his car. Using the information provided, the officer was able to narrow the search to a registered sex offender - Demers.

Demers was arrested by Candia police on July 30 for separate charges and was handed over to the Salem Police Department.

Demers was held without bail and was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Salem District Court. Details on the arraignment were not immediately available.
