These 11 NJ Towns Are Among Most Expensive ZIP Codes In America

If you're looking for a home and don't want to spend a small fortune — say, $1.6M to $3.7M — you may want to skip over these neighborhoods.

NEW JERSEY — If you're in the market for a home down the shore or in the New York City metro, new Zillow data shows that you'll see price tag of $1.6 million or more in certain neighborhoods.

Patch took a look at the 250 most expensive ZIP codes to buy a home, and found 11 New Jersey towns on the list. The average home value in the Garden State is $534,939 — significantly higher than the nationwide value of $363,438 — but typical home values in some of these communities are more than five times that amount.

"Typical home values" reflect a weighted average of all homes in the middle of the market, and are calculated with a formula known as the Zillow Home Value Index.

Deal, in Monmouth County, tops the list for New Jersey again — with home prices approaching $3.7 million, putting the Jersey Shore borough at the 25th-most expensive in the nation.

The top three towns with the highest typical home value countrywide are Atherton in San Mateo County, California ($7,848,988) Miami Beach in Miami-Dade County, Florida ($6,292,681), and Sagoponack in Suffolk County, New York ($5,702,256).

Here are the most expensive ZIP codes in New Jersey and where they fit into the top 250, based on Zillow's most recent data. These numbers, released in mid-July, represent home values through June of 2024:
