"These transponders are nearly a decade old, and we are taking a proactive approach in replacing these units before they stop working properly," DRPA Chief Financial Officer James White said in a release.

Between now and the end of the year, New Jersey motorists eligible for a replacement will receive a kit mailed directly to the NJ E-ZPass account holder. The kit includes a replacement transponder and a return postage-paid envelope for the account older to return their old transponder.
