Sinkhole, NJ Turnpike Crash, Commuting Delays: Patch AM Traffic Digest

Good morning, New Jersey Patch readers! Here are the latest traffic updates that will impact your travel on Tuesday, June 14, 2022:

Traffic Updates

North Jersey

As of 8:27 a.m., there's a crash on NJ 495 eastbound from east of US 1&9 to Kennedy Boulevard in North Bergen. 1 right lane closed.

As of 7:37 a.m., there's a crash on US 1&9 express lanes northbound south of US 22 in Newark. 1 right lane closed.

As of 7:14 a.m., there's a crash on NJ 495 eastbound in the vicinity of Boulevard East in Weehawken. 1 center lane closed.

As of 6:22 a.m., there's a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike - Eastern Spur exiting at Interchange 15E - US 1&9 in Newark. Toll lane blocked.

As of 6:13 a.m., there are delays on the George Washington Bridge lower and upper levels eastbound New Jersey side in Fort Lee. All lanes open. The travel time is 20 minutes on I-95 from I-80 to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge.

As of 6:11 a.m., there's traffic congestion on NJ 139 Lower eastbound between Tonnelle Avenue and Jersey Avenue in Jersey City. Current travel time is 5-10 minutes.

Central Jersey

As of 7:37 a.m., there's a crash on the Garden State Parkway northbound north of Exit 89B - NJ 70 West in Lakewood Township.

As of 6:17 a.m., there's a disabled vehicle on the Outerbridge Crossing eastbound from New Jersey side in Perth Amboy to New York side - Toll Plaza in Staten Island. All lanes closed.

South Jersey

As of 7:40 a.m., there's police department activity on I-295 southbound south of Exit 1 - US 40/US 130 in Pennsville. Right shoulder closed.

As of 4:21 a.m., there's emergency construction and a sinkhole on NJ 38 westbound west of Lawrence Boulevard in Hainesport. 1 right lane and shoulder closed.

As of 3:52 a.m., there's a crash with injuries on the New Jersey Turnpike northbound inside entry Interchange 1 - Delaware Memorial Bridge in Carneys Point. 2 toll lanes blocked.

Transit Updates

The 5:50 a.m. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail departure from Tonnelle Avenue was cancelled due to mechanical issues.

The 6:36 a.m. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail departure from Tonnelle Avenue, is cancelled due mechanical issues.

All NJ Transit train lines are running on or close to schedule.

NJ Weather

Expect showers and thunderstorms through the early afternoon, with a high near 71.
