ASBURY PARK, NJ — Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Dr. Lauren Schulze who nominated Jesslyn Philippe of Asbury Park.

Jesslyn is a very bright second-grade student who helps others and always does a great job in any task or assignment she is given. Jesslyn has exhibited many acts of kindness to be a friend to all. She has been a member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee since last school year and continues to shine in areas of academics, attendance and positive behavior.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Jesslyn is a bilingual student who supports and helps her peers who also speak Haitian-Creole. She is nurturing, kind and supportive to all!
