Asbury Park Beach Patrol Wins First Place In Shore Lifeguard Contest

The event was a competition between lifeguards from six Shore towns in Monmouth County:

ASBURY PARK, NJ — Asbury Park Beach Patrol won first place in the highly competitive Asbury Park Lifeguard tournament, held last week. The event was held among lifeguards from six Shore towns in Monmouth County, competing in a series of challenging timed events and relays.

The towns that competed are: Asbury Park, Avon, Ocean Grove, Allenhurst, 7 Presidents Monmouth County Park and Sea Bright.

Asbury Park lifeguard Shane Brennan clinched second place in the demanding American Ironman competition, featuring a swim, paddle and solo row.

The team of Noah Wilson, Nick Bongiovanni and Henry Buerck dominated the paddle relay, securing a decisive first place for Asbury Park. Anthony Scala's exceptional performance in the beach flags event further solidified Asbury Park's lead.

In a closely contested battle, Asbury Park Beach Patrol accumulated 26 points, surpassing Ocean Grove lifeguards, who got 24 points, and a team of the Monmouth County Parks System lifeguard, who earned 23 points.

“We are immensely proud of Asbury Park Beach Patrol’s hard work and teamwork, which propelled us to first place in this lifeguard tournament,” said city of Asbury Park beach operations supervisor Joe Bongiovanni. "While it's a competition, the tournament also fosters camaraderie among neighboring communities."
