ASBURY PARK—As we all inch closer to the start of another summer season, Asbury Park has been named one of the top 25 most popular beach towns in the U.S. by Newsweek.

The criteria used by Newsweek to make their selections were not only based on the beaches but also on what activities and places cater to everyone and anyone each town has to offer, what the article called “holiday hubs.”

Things like a town’s arts & music scene and restaurant and shopping offerings were considered by Newsweek when curating this list, along with the town’s beachfront, which is why Asbury beat out other noted Jersey Shore destinations like Wildwood, Seaside, Point Pleasant, and Belmar.

In the article, Newsweek described Asbury’s beachfront as “Instagram-able,” but what set it apart from other Jersey Shore towns was its selection of boutiques and other shops and stores along with its “vibrant” art & entertainment scene, thanks to iconic locations like The Stone Pony and Convention Hall as well as the Sea.Hear.Now music festival.

Other iconic locations on this list include the Gulf Shores of Alabama, Nags Head, North Carolina, Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, Santa Barbara, California, and Rincon, Puerto Rico.
