ASBURY PARK, NJ — At their meeting Wednesday night, the Asbury Park City Council put out a public warning that any pop-up parties planned for this spring and summer "will not be tolerated in Asbury Park."

"We have not heard anything specifically, but we are being proactive," said Asbury Park city manager Donna Vieiro the day after the meeting.

"The Asbury Park City Council warns the public that any such events will immediately be shut down, and organizers and participants will be charged and arrested as necessary," said the town Council in a statement. "The Asbury Park Police Department will maintain a zero-tolerance approach, prosecuting to the fullest extent of the law."

Just this week, Seaside Heights was granted a court order to cancel a large pop-up party scheduled to take place in that town on May 5,6 (Cinco de Mayo). Another pop-up party may still take place in Seaside on June 17. Rumors were also circulating about a "link-up" planned for Long Branch.

But party promoters said the Long Branch party and the first Seaside party are both canceled, and warned people not to come out of fear they would be arrested.

"Everyone please I'm just asking ya this once, DO NOT I repeat DO NOT go to Seaside the day of the 'link up," wrote party promoter NJ Rated R Parties on Instagram. "The town has officers ready to arrest anyone that forms in big crowds ... Trust me, they'll be ready for us the second they see that flyer drop."

The Asbury Park City Council said they are taking this proactive stance "to maintain peace and order."

"We welcome all visitors to our beautiful city. However, the city of Asbury Park will not tolerate the types of lawless activities that accompany 'Pop-Up Parties,' the town warned.
