North to Shore is organized by Gov. Phil and First Lady Tammy Murphy in conjunction with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. It's the first time New Jersey government or a governor has hosted a multi-city, month-long music and arts festival like this.

The festival has secured very big names: As of March 15, performers booked include Halsey (she plays in Newark), Demi Lovato and MONSTA X, Santana (he plays in Newark), the B52s, Alanis Morissette with Aimee Mann, Bill Burr, Jay Wheeler, Stephen Colbert with Jim Gaffigan, Marisa Monte, Natalie Merchant, The Smithereens, Gavin DeGraw, Colbie Caillat, Brian Fallon and local Jersey Shore band Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.
