College Achieve Greater Asbury Park Names New Head of School

Jasonn L. Denard, an experienced and accomplished educator and school leader, will start in the role on July 29, 2024.

ASBURY PARK, N.J. (July 26, 2024) – College Achieve Greater Asbury Park Charter School (CAPS Asbury) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Jasonn L. Denard as its new Head of School. Denard brings a wealth of experience in education leadership and a deep commitment to student success. He is already a member of the College Achieve family, currently serving as Director of Teaching and Learning at College Achieve Paterson Charter School. His first day will be Monday, July 29, 2024.


“We are excited to welcome Jasonn Denard to the CAPS Asbury community,” said Dr. Dale Caldwell, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. “His proven track record of educational leadership, coupled with his deep experience with our extraordinary educational model, make him the perfect leader to build on our success and take our school to the next level.”


For the past two decades, Denard has worked as a teacher, teacher-leader, school founder, and principal in Paterson and Newark. A Newark native and graduate of University High School, Denard holds a B.A. in English and Secondary Education from Kean University and an M.A. in Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University. Denard has worked with graduate students entering the field of education at both Concordia University and Eastern Oregon University.

Denard will oversee all aspects of the school’s operations, including academic programs, staff development, and community engagement. His leadership will be instrumental in continuing the school’s mission of providing an exceptional education that prepares students to excel in and graduate from top colleges and universities.


“I am honored to join the CAPS Asbury community,” said Denard. “I can’t wait to partner with students, educators, and families to build on the school’s academic and social-emotional success.”

CAPS Asbury earned national recognition for its performance in the wake of the pandemic. The school had the 3rd-highest ELA growth scores in the state of NJ, and were also in the 98th percentile for math growth. Enrollment and daily attendance were also among the highest in the country.
