Langosta Lounge Farewell Weekend Feb. 2-4 On Asbury Park Boardwalk

Come for live music and late-night food and drink as the boardwalk bar has one final hurrah under Marilyn Schlossbach's ownership:

ASBURY PARK, NJ — Last Friday, news broke that longtime Asbury Park chef/restaurateur Marilyn Schlossbach and her artist husband Scott Szegeski are selling Langosta Lounge, Asbury Park Yacht Club — plus Salt Water Market and Pop's Garage — to new owners.

The popular boardwalk watering holes will have one final "lost weekend," from Thursday, Feb. 2 through Saturday, Feb. 4, featuring a "greatest hits" menu of favorite food and drink offerings, plus live music from some of Jersey Shore's most beloved bands.

"After 14 years on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, pioneers of Asbury Park’s restaurant and music scene Marilyn Schlossbach and Scott Szegeski are leaving the Langosta Lounge pavilion," writes their team. "Their beloved surf bar and authentic vacation cuisine venues will celebrate its final weekend in Asbury Park from Thursday, February 2 through Saturday, February 4."

On Feb. 5, all four will briefly close, and then "quickly" reopen under new owners BarCo Brands, the same restaurant group that owns Deal Lake Bar + Co. in Loch Arbour.

The names of Langosta Lounge and Asbury Park Yacht Club will be changing, said the new owners: Langosta Lounge will reopen as a new restaurant called The Break, and Asbury Park Yacht Club will reopen as a bar only called Low Dive, with possible plans to serve food there in the future, the Asbury Park Press reported.

BarCo is the same group behind a massive sports bar planned to open on the old Fort Monmouth property in Oceanport — to be called Baseline Social — which will have more than 300 seats inside and out, five virtual golf bays and outdoor fire pits. Baseline Social will open in June of 2023, said the group.

The BarCo Brands team is made up of Phil Villapiano, 41, of Oceanport, Andrea Pappas, 39, of Tinton Falls, Greg Bartz, 42, of Red Bank, and Tim McMahon, 54, of Middletown.

Also, any Marilyn Group gift cards purchased for any of her four eateries will be honored by BarCo, and at Whitechapel Projects, with the exception of the blackout dates of Feb. 2-5.

Schlossbach is known as an Asbury Park visionary — a woman who helped make Asbury Park what it is today — and she told the Asbury Park Press she decided to sell her AP boardwalk empire to focus more on her family (the couple has two children). She also wants to devote more time to The Whitechapel Projects, the restaurant/brewery/live music space she became an operating partner of in 2020.

"To take over a space from Marilyn Schlossbach, such an Asbury Park icon and pioneer, and a woman who has done so much for the community and the hospitality industry, feels very special to me and is truly a dream come true," Pappas told 94.3 The Point radio station, of the changing of hands of the iconic restaurant space.

Created by Schlossbach and Szegeski, The Marilyn Group "is recognized for its unique sense of place and welcoming vacation lifestyle. Their shared passion for travel, culture, the arts and the ocean culminate in the group's restaurants, venues, not-for-profits and projects. For more information, visit www.marilyngroup.com."
