ASBURY PARK, NJ – The owner of a local McDonald's will host a back-to-school backpack giveaway next weekend.

McDonald's owner/operator Marty Gillis will host the event, which will provide necessary school supplies and encourage students to kick off the school year with a strong start.

Gillis plans to donate 500 backpacks to the community, which will be stuffed with notebooks, folders, pencils, pens, erasers, crayons, rulers, highlighters, glue sticks, pencil sharpeners and pencil cases.

The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21 from 2-4 p.m at Rt. 33 & 35 in Neptune.
